【背景】精子濃度の低下（Skakkebaek ら）や精巣重量の低下傾向（森ら）が報告されている。そのことから、精巣の成熟障害の可能性も考えられるが、精通
の出生年代別の大規模な調査は国内外ともに存在しない。
【目的】精通年齢の年代別変遷を明らかにするため、大規模な調査を行う。
【方法】アンケート法により精通年齢を調査。
【対象】「精通年齢の記憶にほぼ間違いがない」と答えた1163人について検討した。
【結果】1940年代から1960年代生まれでは、精通年齢は次第に早熟化しているが、1970年代にはいると逆に遅延傾向が認められた。1950,1960年代生まれでは、小学生の内に約36％が精通
していたが、1970年代では5ポイント低下し約31%になり、平均年齢でも0.16歳（1.9ｹ月）の遅延が認められた。

【考案】1970年代生まれの男性では、1960年代生まれの男性より精通
年齢が遅れてきている。精巣の発育が遅延してきており、これは精巣に何らかの異変が起こっていることを示唆している。これは森らが報告した、精巣重量
の低下傾向と符号するものと思われるし、Skakkebaek らが報告した精子濃度の低下傾向とも関連した現象かもしれない。なお女子の初潮年齢については、このような遅延傾向は認められず、1960年代生まれと1970年代生まれの間には初潮年齢に差はない（全国初潮調査、日野林）。男子にのみ、性成熟の遅延傾向が認められた点から、内分泌撹乱化学物質（多くが女性ホルモン作用を示す）の関与が疑われる。

The secular trend of spermarche (onset of sperm emission) was investigated
using a questionnaire. 1163 men who had a clear memory of their spermarche age
participated in the study. The spermarche age gradually decreased after the
ending of World War II; however this trend changed recently. Men born in the
1970ﾕs showed a delay of spermarche age. 36 % of the men born in the 1950ﾕs
and 1960ﾕs experienced spermarche while in primary school, but only 31% of men
born in the 1970ﾕs experienced it during that same period.
This study showed a delayed maturation of the testis in the younger generation
even though no such trend was observed in a national survey on menarche. It
is likely that the delayed maturation of the testis has some relation to the
decreased volume of testis reported by Mori and the decreased sperm concentration
reported by Skakkebaek.
